Coach Nick


Coach Nick is a brown belt under Andrew McColl and has trained with world-class athletes such as Isaac Doederlein, Bruno Lima, Felipe Andrew, and Caio Terra. As a competitor, Nick established himself as one of the top athletes in his division, earning a Top 5 IBJJF ranking at purple belt in the middleweight division.

Nick has achieved notable success in high-level competition, including a gold medal at the IBJJF New York Open and a bronze medal at the IBJJF American Nationals. He has also won multiple major tournaments at purple belt middleweight, including the Toronto Open, Chicago Open, Santa Cruz Open, Nashville Open, Indianapolis Open, and New Haven Open.

His passion for teaching extends beyond competition. After completing a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History from the University of Toronto, Nick brings a thoughtful, structured approach to coaching. As a coach, he aims to provide the highest caliber Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training by combining elite-level grappling knowledge with strong educational principles. His goal is to show students that Jiu-Jitsu can be fun, healthy, and foster a supportive environment for everyone.

Coach Jess


Coach Jess began her Jiu Jitsu journey under Professor Jorge Britto at Toronto BJJ and is now a brown belt under Professor Andrew McColl. Jess is a registered early childhood educator and has over 15 years of experience in Martial Arts and competes in Jiu Jitsu regularly. Her calm and welcoming demeanor makes our Junior Kids’ classes an exciting experience for even the most timid child.  

Coach Jesse


Coach Jesse is a brown belt under Andrew McColl and has been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for over 9 years. After his career in the OHL as a professional hockey player, Jesse transitioned into coaching as a youth hockey coach. Upon being introduced to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, he quickly fell in love with the sport and now coaches both hockey and Jiu-Jitsu simultaneously.

Jesse has trained under world-class athletes such as Vagner Rocha and Isaac Doederlein and has built an impressive competitive résumé. His accomplishments include 1st place finishes at the New Jersey Open, Nashville Open, and Boston Open (Master 1 Brown Belt), as well as winning the Ontario Open. He has also earned medals at multiple IBJJF tournaments and achieved numerous first-place finishes at international opens as a purple belt.

Jesse’s passion for coaching spans multiple sports, and he uses the knowledge, discipline, and techniques he has developed to help every student improve. He understands the importance of a strong team environment and is a confident, motivating leader. Known for his energetic personality, Jesse brings a fun, wild side to the gym while always providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere for every new member.
